Never Enough Tolkien
Mar. 3rd, 2018 03:18 pmI just bought my 40th Tolkien book. After reading "Letters of Tolkien" for the first time, I realized that in all the books of the Histories of Middle Earth (1-12) there are some of his poems and short stories missing, like "Leaf by Niggle" and "Adventures of Tom Bombadil." So "Tales from the Perilous Realm" are now sitting on my shelf, waiting to be read.
I've not actually read LOTR more than twice. I feel a bit like a liar when I say I'm a Tolkien fan because I haven't read the series a million times. But hey, I may have only read it a few times (seen the moves far more frequently) but I seriously love Lord of the Rings. The language and story moves me and I find myself craving the stories like nothing else (except maybe "Name of the Wind"). I even started writing an Ugoliant/Melkor/Darkening of Valinor story because I think it's so fascinating and didn't get enough time in "Silmarillion." It's nice to have books that make you feel warm and cuddly inside.
I also have no idea what I'm doing here, if this is the kind of thing this site is for, or what have you. Yet another reason that I feel like I have "imposter syndrome." I claim to be a fan or know what I'm doing but do I really? Probably not.
